What we do

We’re an independent charity that cares about special places and wants to make sure they stay special forever, for everyone.

In the Stonehenge and Avebury World Heritage Site we own and care for more than 3700 acres, much of which is permissive open access. We look after some of the most precious archaeological sites and monuments on the globe including :

At Avebury

Avebury Henge and Stone Circles

West Kennet Avenue

Part of the West Kennet Avenue, Avebury

Part of the West Kennet Avenue, Avebury

Windmill Hill Causewayed Enclosure

West Kennet Long Barrow

In the Stonehenge Landscape

Stonehenge Avenue

Stonehenge Cursus

Stonehenge Lesser Cursus

Durrington Walls

A host of round barrow cemeteries in both sides of the World Heritage Site. But the archaeology we look after here doesn’t stop there. It extends beyond the Neolithic and Bronze Age and includes  sites, monuments and buildings in the Avebury and Stonehenge Landscapes ranging from the Mesolithic,  through the Roman, Saxon and Medieval periods and into the 20th century.

We also care for Avebury Museum.
